Double-jaw Vises Offer Changeable Jaws

PLUMB Multiplex Vises are unique in concept and design. They provide high density work holding, less setup time and faster loading.

The most efficient use of vertical machining centers requires use of all the "X" travel possible. A Plumb Multiplex Vise can be sized to span the length of the machine's "X" travel, thereby increasing productivity.

The principle feature of the vises is a cast iron fixed center rail, keyed and rigidly bolted to the center "T" slot, and spanning the "X" axis travel. This center rail in turn is shared by several, front and rear, moveable jaw stations. This double-jaw construction enables users to accurately machine opposite sides of workpieces using the same datum surface.

The clamping mechanism features all hardened parts for durability, and slides freely on 7/8" diameter 60 case-hardened guide rods. It clamps front and rear parts with equal pressure up to 2,000 pounds, when lever operated, and 3,000 pounds with an Acme screw.

The moveable jaws rest directly on the table; and will adjust instantly to any width and to different widths front and rear.

Quick change soft moveable jaws are also available. Cast iron soft jaws provide durability, while aluminum soft jaws are economical and offer flexibility. All soft jaws are machinable and may be contoured to fit any
shaped part.
